Honoring Tradition: The Officer Flags of P/C Hortensia Sampedro Hacker

Prominently displayed in the Sunset Room, a special two-frame collection celebrates KBYC history. Presented as a gift from her husband Robert Hacker, these burgees commemorate the executive and flag officer positions held by Past Commodore Hortensia Sampedro Hacker-the 58th Watch Commodore and the first female Commodore of the yacht club. The collection chronicles her dedicated leadership and service to our club from 2008 to 2014.

The Collection (Top-Left to Bottom-Right)

1. Top-Left: Treasurer

Significance: The traditional nautical symbol for financial stewardship, wisdom, and organizational growth.

2. Top-Right: Secretary

Significance: Represents official record-keeping, formal communications, and administrative leadership.

3. Bottom-Left: Rear Commodore

Significance: Marks her role as 3rd-in-command, traditionally overseeing committee operations and fleet safety.

4. Bottom-Right: Vice Commodore

Significance: Marks her tenure as 2nd-in-command, supporting club governance and leading member activities.
